COCKTAILS
Barcoa

A deeper appreciation of agave.
Barcoa gives the 1928 Knights of Pythias Building a new reason to gather. Once a fraternal meeting place and later a hardware store, the building now holds an agave bar whose name makes its own connection to tools: a coa is the blade used to harvest agave.
Tequila, mezcal and the traditions behind them lead the experience, with a casual cantina above and a more intimate bar below. The old building is part of what makes the visit memorable. Adaptive reuse carries its gathering spaces into a different kind of social life, over a cocktail, a tasting and a conversation that goes a little deeper.
