The Nash carries the name of Lewis Nash, the Phoenix-born drummer whose career connects this city to the wider world of jazz. Opened in 2012 as the flagship venue of Jazz in Arizona, it gives that connection a stage on Roosevelt Row.

The club has continued to evolve through renovation, while the John Dawson Jazz Education Center creates room nearby for the next generation. Musicians, students and audiences give existing neighborhood spaces an ongoing cultural purpose.
